Our Pastor
Our pastor is Timothy G. Hall. Reverand Hall came to Nebo Baptist Church in July of 1982. He received his education at Mansfield State University, majoring in political science. He also attended Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating in 1982 with a Master of Divinity Degree. He has served as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Westfield, PA, and assistant pastor of the Belmont Baptisit Church in Broomall, PA. He also currently serves as pastor of Bethel Congregational Church in Nanticoke. Reverand Hall resides in Nanticoke with his wife Barbara and their children, Erik and Keri.
Our Purpose
The mission of this church is the advancement of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. We seek to attain this end through the public worship of God, the preaching of the Gospel, consistent Christian living by our members, personal evangelism, missionary endeavor and Christian education.
Our Polity
The government of this church is vested in the body which composes its membership. We are a Bible believing Baptist Church affiliated with a growing group of churches of like-minded beliefs called Baptist Evangelicals.
Our Doctrine
This church receives the Bible (Old and New Testament) as the divinely inspired and all-sufficient basis of doctrine and practice. As a summary of principles for Christian conduct among its members, it adopts the church covenant commonly accepted by baptist churches and our Statement of Faith.

STATEMENT OF BELIEFS 1. WE BELIEVE the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writing, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of people, and the divine and final authority for Christian faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16,17) 2. WE BELIEVE in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1; Colossians 2:9) 3. WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures and that He rose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where He is now seated at the right hand of the Father. He is now the believer’s High Priest, Mediator and Advocate. (1Corinthians 15:3,4; 1 John 2:1; Luke 1:35) 4. WE BELIEVE that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict people of their sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, fill, gift, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service. (John 15:36; John 16:7-14) 5. WE BELIEVE that men and women were created in the image of God, and that they sinned, and are therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and eternal life be obtained. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12; John 3:3) 6. WE BELIEVE that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe and that only those who believe and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior are born of the Holy Spirit and so become children of God. (Hebrews 9:22; Romans 5:1) 7. WE BELIEVE that the Lord’s Supper and Water Baptism by immersion are ordinances to be observed by the Church during this present age. We DO NOT believe that these ordinances are to be regarded the means of salvation. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 8:38,39) 8. WE BELIEVE that the true Church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are baptized into the body of Christ of which He is the Head. (1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 4:1-6; Titus 3:5) 9. WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church, and that every local Church has the right under Christ, to decide and govern its own affairs. (Ephesians 1:22; Colossians 1) 10. WE BELIEVE that the fulfillment of the Great Commission is the responsibility of every believer, and that every believer must be a personal witness for Christ and strive to build up other believers in the Church. (Ephesians 4:11-16) 11. WE BELIEVE in the personal and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. ( Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-16; 1 John 3:1-3) 12. WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. ( 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:15; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)

Dear Friends and Family,
We want to share with you a larger picture than usually communicated in our letters. The backdrop to our ministry in Indonesia is an interesting horizon to work inside. The following analysis of 2002 is a modified version of a good friend and colleague Larry Fish.
INDONESIA IN CONTEXT:
Probably the most remembered date in the year 2002 for Indonesia will be October 12, 2002. This date is exactly one year, one month and one day after the World Trade Center bombings. This was the date that 190 people mostly Australians and Indonesians were killed inside the Sari nightclub in Bali. Several people in our ministry lost loved ones in this tragic event. This bombing became Indonesia’s wake up call to pursue a war on terror. The President Megawati Soekarnoputri government often criticized as dragging its feet in cracking down on suspected militants for fear of a backlash from the country’s Muslim population has since summoned the political will to recognize the threat from homegrown terrorists and use its police and security forces to curb them. Investigations have shown that Jemaah Islamiyah (JL), which is a movement to enforce syariah law in Southeast Asia, has staged some 50 bombings or attempted bombings here since 1999 including the Bali blast as well as many church bombings. Abu Bakar Basjir who is rumored to be the spiritual head of JL was arrested in October. Others arrested include Muchlas and Iman Samudera the man Indonesian police believe organized the bombings.
Even though the rupiah stabilized during the year foreign direct investments plummeted by 35% and domestic investment by 57%. Experts have often said that legal uncertainties, lingering labor conflicts, security problems and the lack of regulations governing regional autonomy are among the factors that discourage investments and even cause existing ones to flee. The giant Sony Corp. for instance has relocated its audio equipment facility from Indonesia to Malaysia.
This year has seen almost no progress in law enforcement. Although Tommy Soeharto, son of former President Suharto, remains in jail; the Head of Parliament, Akbar Tanjung, who has been found guilty of corruption of government funds and sentenced to three years in jail is free to maintain his leadership position pending an appeal. There has been no progress in bringing to justice those involved in the Trisakti shooting, the human rights abuses in East Timor nor the killing of Theys Eluay in Papua. The government on the other hand has released all the ex-bankers who admitted to abusing US $10 billion in state funds provided they repay some of the money and other debts to the government.
This year also Malaysia deported many illegal workers back to Indonesia where they face unemployment and poverty. The government is still dealing with 1.3 million displaced people caused by ethnic and religious strife inside the country.
The year 2002 will also be remembered as the year of the biggest floods in written history. In January 300,000 were affected by huge floods in Jakarta. So far this year no significant efforts have been taken by the administration to repair the environmental damage in the country. Illegal logging & mining and turning green areas into shopping centers continues unabated.
MINISTRY REPORT:
The verse of scripture we adopted five years ago as a theme for the Indonesian season in our lives was from II Thessalonians 3:1. “Pray with us. Pray that the Master’s Word will simply take off and race through the country to a groundswell of response…” Glory to God this is happening! We are developing three ministries simultaneously. This is how it works.
The first and obvious call is to out beloved Bandung International Church (BIC). The unique context of the International community is a privilege to serve. We witness people from around the world encountering Christ, then carrying their new found faith back to their countries of origin or onto their next assignment. This is an interesting phenomenon of the International Church ministry. We thank God for His wonderful provision. The BIC budget for 2002 was met with a surplus to bless other connected ministries.
The second ministry is that BIC serves as a kind of base camp or beachhead to launch pioneering efforts of evangelism into the focus people of Indonesia. Presently BIC helps to facilitate/empower a ministry called IndoSun. There are 22 Indonesian workers on six different teams. IndoSun actually doubled the goal of adding four teams not two for the year 2002. These teams are mentored by BIC International workers. Each team is charged with the challenge of launching reproducible evangelistic ministries. Focus people are coming to Christ as the teams minister contextually all over Bandung and most recently in a second adopted unreached people group . To God be the glory.
The third ministry is a new initiative called MICN. The Missional International Church Network is a young organization that exists to explain God’s dream for other International Churches. International Churches are often composed of biblically literate, highly educated, entrepreneurial, and strategic thinking people. These combinations create a formula for these Churches to become missional in their mindset. MICN seeks to help International Churches find ways to become cross- cultural beachheads in their respective cities and countries.
We look forward to 2003 with great anticipation.
FAMILY UPDATE:
Thanks for the greetings, cards, phone calls and gifts over the Christmas season. Although this sounds so late we actually still receive mail everyday from Christmas into February. We are grateful for your kind expressions of joy during this festive time of year season. It has been great to connect with you and hear of your plans with family and friends where you each live.
Our children have had a terrific season away from school and celebrating with their own friends. The Kotchapaw's came down from Jakarta so their three and our three had a ball. One of the highlights was a mountain bike ride that Kotch and I took the boys on. We purposely rode into a rain storm and had an absolute riot driving our bikes over the mud paths and down the mountain. It was like the Keystone cops! Sliding and falling all over ourselves and each other. We laughed ourselves hoarse! Half way through the adventure Kotch said, "the girls sure wouldn't want to be with us." Landon his witty 12 year old son immediately responded, "and we wouldn't want to be shopping with them." Amazing how this gender shopping thing seems so imbedded in the each of the sexes! We laughed some more.
The girls did enjoy their collections of new clothes. There is a textile/shoe franchise businessman in our church that gave us a coupon for his stores entitled, "shop until you drop." This was his Christmas gift to us. So needless to say Whitney, Courtney and Mom had a blast purchasing new clothes and shoes to adjust to all the latest fashion trends. Taylor got a pair of great looking cowboy boots and I got a few muscle shirts. So we are now the hippest looking poverty paid preacher family of them all!
WE NOW HAVE A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS. You can still email us on our secure email address at wdr@securenym.net or you can email either Warren or Debbie on their separate accounts (which is not secure email) at
