This year’s 50 Day Spiritual Adventure, Knowing God By Name, begins on Sunday, March 2.
Most believers know that the Bible contains many different names for God. These different names are like portraits that help us learn about God’s character and how he cares for His people. By knowing God’s name we will learn more about who He is, what He is like and what He does.
Get ready to grow as we discover more about the God who loves us through his many names!
Week 1: Elohim–God the Creator. Elohim is the first name of God found in Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, Elohim created the heavens and the earth.” Take a few minutes each day this week to praise God the Creator for his creation.
Week 2: Jehovah–God is Personal. Jehovah is the name God called himself when Moses asked, “Who should I say sent me?” God said tell the Israelites, “I AM” — He called himself Jehovah. Jehovah knows you personally, is your protector and keeps His promises to you. Take a few minutes each day this week to thank God for knowing you personally.
Week 3: Adonai–God the Lord. Adonai owns our possessions, our money and our bodies. Are you pleasing God the Lord with how you handle possessions, money and your body?
Week 4: Jehovah Jireh–God our Provider. Jehovah Jireh sees and supplies all of your needs. Take comfort in knowing that God sees AND supplies everything you need.
Week 5: Jehovah Shalom–God Is Our Peace. Fear, worry, anger and conflict are four things that will steal your peace. Focus your mind on Jehovah Shalom and not on those things that will steal your peace. “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind…is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.” Isaiah 26:3 (The Amplified Bible).
Week 6: Jehovah Shammah–God is There. God dwells in Jesus, in every believer, in the church and in Heaven. Jehovah Shammah means that God is here; God is there; God is everywhere. Praise God this week for dwelling right where you need Him the most–EVERYWHERE in EVERY circumstance.
