RockOn is our ministry for children in grades 4-6. The group meets Sunday evenings at 5:30 and is led by a Fran Stauffer, a volunteer. Children have a short Bible lesson, play games and have refreshments. The group meets on the second floor in the Bethel Annex. Meetings run from September-May each year.
Our classes for children are divided into the following age groupings: Nursery – ages 2-5; Primary – grades K-1; Middlers – grades 2-4; Juniors – grades 5-6. We use a Bible-based curriculum for each class so children get a working knowledge of the Bible. There is no Sunday School during the month of July each year.
Vacation Bible School
We have VBS each year the first full week of August and provide classes for children from ages 3-14. We use the Gospellight curriculum and minister to over 200 children each year. We hold our VBS Monday-Friday mornings and utilize all of our classroom space as well as the facilities of a neighboring church. Children come back year after year for a fun week of Bible stories, singing, games, refreshments and lots of prizes. VBS is one of our church’s major community outreach programs each year.
Junior Church is provided during both worship services each week for children in grades K-3. The children remain in the worship service until just after the offering and then are dismissed to go downstairs to have a Bible story, craft and some game time. Volunteers staff the program.
A nursery is provided for children 5 and younger who have not entered kindergarten. The nursery is staff for both worship services for the entire service. Many parents choose to have their children remain up in the worship service until older children are dismissed for Junior Church and then take the younger children down to the nursery. There is a speaker system in the nursery for parents who choose to remain with their children. Nursery staff will ask parents to leave their cell phone number in case the parents need to be reached during the service.
