Planning a Visit

New friends are always welcome at Nebo! We want to make your first visit with us one that you enjoy.  We also would like to learn about you.  Join in, take what others can give, give what you can offer, and together, let us walk with Christ.

Also, we’d love to hear from you.  Please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can help you connect with others at the church.

Here are some tips to help make your first visit to Nebo a pleasant one.

Parking

We have two parking lots located directly across the street from the church on Prospect Street.  There is also street parking available on both Prospect and State Streets.  Handicapped parking is located on State Street.

Services

Our Sunday worship services are held at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM on the upper level of our building. The sanctuary is handicapped accessible from State Street with a ramp entrance. Both worship services on Sunday morning are identical.  Our music is a blend of both contemporary modern worship songs and hymns.  All services are recorded and CD’s of services are available in the sanctuary and church office.

The service begins with several songs led by the Worship Team. After the opening time of singing, the congregation is led in prayer by the pastoral staff, followed by a musical selection provided by a soloist or group while our tithes and offerings are received. Please do not feel obligated to give as the offering plate is passed, but rather to receive the service as our gift to you. Following this, younger children (ages third grade and younger) are dismissed to Junior Church and the Nursery.  The Bible message is presented at this time and the service closes with a hymn and/or worship song.

Nursery and Junior Church

We provide a staffed nursery for the entire worship service for children 5 and younger (who have not entered kindergarten).  When you enter the sanctuary, you can ask the church greeters for directions to the nursery which  is located on the lower level of the church.  The nursery worker will give you a pager when you leave your child(ren) in the nursery in the event they need to reach you during the service.

Children in grades K-3 are a part of the worship service until just before the sermon time when they are dismissed for Junior Church.  At Nebo we feel that children and young people are an important part of the church family and want them to enjoy the worship time, prayer time, offering and special music before dismissing them.  Our Junior Church program is held in the lower level of the church.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be Baptist to attend Nebo?

No.   Less than half of our church attenders come from a Baptist background. Nebo is a Bible-based church. We teach, preach, and train ourselves to live out the truth of Scripture in our everyday lives. Our focus is for us all to be followers of Christ and not a specific denomination.

What should I wear?

We dress casually.  We believe that what a person looks like on the outside is not nearly as important as what is on the inside.  At Nebo, you will see blue jeans, khakis, skirts, suits and even shorts.  Dress in a way that you feel comfortable.

What are your services like?

We strive to create an environment for worship where people are encouraged to experience the presence of God.  We use worship songs that point to the power of God and glorify Him through the lyrics.  Our messages are Bible based, creative, and offer practical insights on relevant issues that concern everyone.

What do you have for my children?

We have ministries and activities that cover every age group from birth to 12th grade.  Children are encouraged to be a part of the worship service.  Midway through the service, children 9 and younger are dismissed to go down to either Junior Church (grades K-3) or to the nursery (infants-5 years).
