S.W.A.G. is our ministry for youth in grades 7-12. The groups meets Sunday evenings from 5:30-6:30 in the Educational Building next to the church. They have a time of Bible study, games and refreshments while building relationships. S.W.A.G. stands for “Saved With Amazing Grace.” The youth chose this name to represent their standing before Christ. Our youth pastor, Jacob Claypoole, leads the group which meets from September-May.
The youth have an annual retreat on Memorial Day weekend. Throughout the year they are involved in service activities like Operation Christmas Child and work days for various organizations.
Youth are divided into two classes on Sunday mornings: Junior High (grades 7-9) and Senior High (grades 10-12). Both classes meet in the Educational Building and spend time studying God’s Word together. Each year, the students in the Sunday School plan and lead the Children’s Day worship services on the second Sunday in June. Graduating seniors have the opportunity to speak at the services and give “mini-sermons” where they share their testimonies, the impact God has in their lives and words of encouragement for other students.
Vacation Bible School
We have VBS each year the first full week of August and provide classes for children from ages 3-14. We use the Gospellight curriculum and minister to over 200 children each year. We hold our VBS Monday-Friday mornings and utilize all of our classroom space as well as the facilities of a neighboring church. Children come back year after year for a fun week of Bible stories, singing, games, refreshments and lots of prizes. VBS is one of our church’s major community outreach programs each year. We utilize our older teens as helpers and assistant teachers at VBS, giving them the chance to minister.
