Youth and Children’s Ministries

Sunday School

Sunday School runs between our two services Sunday morning approximately 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.

Our classes for children are divided into the following age groups:  Nursery – ages 2-5; Primary – grades K-1; Middlers – grades 2-4; Juniors – grades 5-6.  We use a Bible-based curriculum for each class so children get a working knowledge of the Bible.  There is no Sunday School during the month of July each year.

Youth are divided into two classes on Sunday mornings:  Junior High (grades 7-9) and Senior High (grades 10-12).  Both classes meet in the Educational Building and spend time studying God’s Word together.  Each year, the students in the Sunday School plan and lead the Children’s Day worship services on the second Sunday in June.  Graduating seniors have the opportunity to speak at the services and give “mini-sermons” where they share their testimonies, the impact God has in their lives and words of encouragement for other students.

Nebo Kids

Nebo Kids is provided during both worship services each week for children in grades K-3.  The children remain in the worship service until just after the third praise song and then are dismissed to go downstairs to have a Bible lesson. David & Kristin Spencer and Patti Smith are the Nebo Kids leaders.

A nursery is provided for children 5 and younger who have not entered kindergarten.  The nursery is staffed for both worship services for the entire service.  Many parents choose to have their children remain up in the worship service until older children are dismissed for Nebo Kids and then take the younger children down to the nursery.  There is a speaker system in the nursery for parents who choose to remain with their children.  Parents will be given a pager in case the parents need to be reached during the service.

Impact Student Ministries

Impact is our ministry for children and teens in grades 4th-12th.  The group meets Sunday evenings from 5:00-6:30 in the Educational Building and is led by our Youth Pastor, Jacob Claypoole. They play games, have a time of Bible study, meet in small groups, pray together, and usually have refreshments. They do outreach events throughout the year as well as larger events with other youth groups in the area. Impact runs from September-May each year.

Vacation Bible School

We have VBS each year the first full week of August and provide classes for children from ages 3-14.  We use the Gospellight curriculum and minister to over 200 children each year.  We hold our VBS Monday-Friday mornings and utilize all of our classroom space as well as the facilities of a neighboring church.  Children come back year after year for a fun week of Bible stories, singing, games, refreshments and lots of prizes. VBS is one of our church’s major community outreach programs each year. We utilize our older teens as helpers and assistant teachers at VBS, giving them the chance to minister.
